ostudy

Documents

Read it, mark it up, learn from it

Keep your course materials in one library on your device. Annotate PDFs by hand, and have ostudy read each document once so it can feed your study guides, cards and Tutor.

Annotate PDFs

A pen, a highlighter and the margin

Open any PDF in your library and write on it. Your marks are saved as you go, and the PDF file itself is never changed.

  • Pen for handwriting and drawing, thicker when you press harder with a stylus.
  • Highlighter that keeps the text underneath readable.
  • Text notes you type anywhere on the page.
  • Lines, arrows, boxes and ellipses, plus an eraser and full undo and redo.
Tablets and phones

Write with a stylus, scroll with your fingers

On an Android tablet the stylus draws while fingers scroll and zoom, and a resting palm is ignored. On a phone a finger draws with every tool.

Sharp at any zoom

Zoom in and ostudy redraws that part of the page from the PDF itself, so small print and figures stay crisp.

Kept with your library

Annotations are part of every whole-library backup and come back when you restore it.

Processing

ostudy reads the document so the AI doesn't have to guess

When you add a document, ostudy reads it on your device and turns it into a structured map of its pages, headings, tables and figures. Your AI provider receives only the passages a task needs, never the whole file as an upload.

Many formats

PDF, Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, EPUB, RTF, Excel and CSV.

Scanned pages

Text recognition (OCR) recovers scanned and image-only pages. On Android it's built in.

Tables kept whole

Bordered tables are read cell by cell, and pages with tables can be sent as images to models that read them.

Screenshots and photos

Upload or paste a batch of images, such as lecture slides you photographed, and they're read as one source.

Read once, used everywhere

What ostudy learns from a document is saved and shared by study guides, cards and the Tutor. Switching AI models doesn't mean reading it again.

Keeps going

Processing carries on while you use the rest of the app, and one failed request doesn't sink the whole document.

From document to study

Cards and a guide from every source

Each document can make a study guide and a deck of cards in several question types, each citing where it came from. Want more? Make more cards takes instructions, such as “a card for each cranial nerve, with the nursing assessment test”.

Organized by course

Group documents into a subject, set the page range to study from each one, and make one guide across all of them.

Not yet available: handwriting recognition, highlights that snap to the PDF's text, exporting a PDF with your marks, and annotating formats other than PDF.
